During a conference press briefing yesterday, Saturday, March 5, at the Center Othello, was submitted to the local press of the Presidium Chivasso FREE dedicated to Angelo Vassallo. PRESIDIO OF THE BORN FREE "ANGELO VASSALLO" A CHIVASSO.
" Free. Associations, names and numbers against mafias" was born March 25, 1995 with the intent to solicit civil society in the fight against the mafia and law and promote justice. Currently Free is a coordination of over 1500 associations, groups, schools, grassroots groups, territorially committed to building synergies and political-cultural organization capable of spreading the culture of legality. The social law on the use of property confiscated from the mafia, education for democratic legality, the efforts against corruption, the mafia training camps, projects at work and development, business wear, are some of the specific commitments Free. Free Chivasso is a collaboration between the Centre Paul Othello, whose headquarters are in fact holding meetings, and leaders of House Hunting, well seized from the Mafia in San Sebastiano da Po, Roberto and Sara Laddaga Lege. The strong desire to bring a really beautiful and rich as that of the association of Don Luigi Ciotti Chivasso has now convinced many young and passionate (and others) that have joined the group.
Each Presidio is entitled to a victim of the mafia and we have chosen for our Angelo Vassallo, Mayor of Pollica (SA) of PD, killed by the mafia on the evening of September 5, 2010, on his way home to drive of his car, at the hands of one or more attackers (state unknown) which exploded against him nine nine caliber bullets, seven of them to sign. Vassallo, nicknamed "the mayor fisherman 'because of his activities in the fisheries sector and its desire to protect the environment, was seen by the Camorra as a barrier to building permit violations and control of the port which would have guaranteed freedom of illegal trade drugs.
We wanted his name basically for two reasons: to remind our fellow citizens who, unfortunately, the Mafia are still dying today because this terrible scourge that afflicts our country is more than ever, and to point out to administrators dealing della "cosa pubblica" un esempio di bella politica, fatta di coraggio, impegno, denuncia dell'illegalità, tutela, rispetto e amore per il territorio e per i suoi abitanti.

La prima iniziativa pubblica a Chivasso sarà il 21 marzo in occasione della Giornata della Memoria e dell'Impegno per ricordare le vittime innocenti di tutte le mafie. A questa si affiancheranno molte altre iniziative, anche in collaborazione con associazioni chivassesi, come il Centro Paolo Otelli che ancora ringraziamo, e con Cascina Caccia.
