The origin of the festival dates back to March 8, 1908, when a group of workers of a textile strike in New York as a form protest against the terrible conditions in which they were at work. The strike continued for several days but it was on March 8 that the ownership of the company blocked the exits of the factory, preventing the workers to leave the same. Mortally wounded in a fire 129 workers, including the Italian women who are simply looking to improve their quality of work. Among them were many immigrants, including Italian women who, like others, sought to improve their living conditions. On March 8, eventually took on global importance, becoming a symbol of oppression that women have had to endure throughout the centuries and the starting point for the ransom of his dignity. On March 8 is therefore the memory of that sad day. It is not a "party" but rather to propose an anniversary every year as an indelible sign of what happened the last century.
